A small 'd' shackle between the 'snap shackle' and the
harness. The 'snap shackle' has a swivel built into it. There
is a cord from the release ring of the 'snap shackle' to my wrist.
There is a pulley on the link line between the
handles. The ring at the end of this pulley fits onto the 'snap
shackle'. In emergency I move my arm away from my body, this pulls
the cord which releases the 'snap shackle' which releases the pulley and
the kite is no longer connected to me!
This shows the hook on the spreader bar with the small 'D'
shackle being used to attach the swivel snap shackle to this hook.
The cord goes to a loop that goes around my wrist.
The line between the handles is nearly nine inches long, and
can be swapped between handles by untying the clove hitch knot on each
handle.
The metal loop in the end of the pulley must be large enough
for the end of the swivel snap shackle to come out of easily!
